Anniversary Gifts

Wfmwheader   This week is backwards week!  I think these are lots of fun!  This is where I get to ask a question and everyone can help me out!

So our 1st Anniversary is coming up really fast.  It is February 5!  I have no idea what to get Blake.  I just don’t know what to do for this (as it is our first).  But I would love to do something really sweet and surprise him.  So I know all you blogging women are so creative.  I need some ideas!  Nothing too expensive please!  Or at least share some of y’alls stories of your own past anniversaries!  Thanks for all the help!

  1. I just had my 1 year anniversary and decided to make my husband a calendar for the next year with something listed each week that I would do for him. Some of these included things that only he would like- massage, lingerie night, etc. and others included things like making the bed every day for a week, packing your lunches for a week, or date nights. I tried to vary each month by having one of four different categories: intimacy, cleaning, food, and date nights. He seems to love it so far.

  2. For our 3rd anniversary, I named a star in honor of our marriage. Our “word” has always been AGAPE so I went to that star-naming company and named a star AGAPE and gave him the certificate as a gift. I’m sure you could Google and find the company.

  3. For my husband and I’s first anniversary I made him a coupon book (similar to the calendar) that he could cash in when he felt like… come to think of it, we’ve been married five years now and I still haven’t seen all of those coupons! Apparently he is saving them for a really special time! 🙂

Our first year together we were actually a part a lot of the time. So for our first dating anniversary I took all of the e-mails and letters that we wrote one another and put them into a three ring binder for him. It’s nice for me too, because I can go back and remember how infatuated we were (yes there will come a time when you need little reminders!). If you don’t have letters, you could put together a little binder of all of the reasons why you love him or your memories of the last year with him.

Another fun anniversary idea is if he has to work, plan out a scavenger hunt of sorts for him throughout the day. Put sticky notes with little sayings (or hints as to what is coming that evening) in his coat pocket, in his lunch box, on his dashboard, if you can get to his work place in his desk drawer or locker, etc… then have something romantic and fun planned for when he gets home!

  4. I’ll have to think on this one! But thank you for stopping by my blog and for the baseboard advice. 🙂 Happy Anniversary!

  5. My husband and I do gifts for us, rather than giving each other individual gifts. For example, we bought a porch swing for our first anniversary. He spent the afternoon hanging it, and it’s a sweet reminder every time I look out the back windows.

One year when money was tight, we just bought a DVD that we could watch together.

  6. Ok, I’m going to be a spectator on this one. My husband and I will be celebrating our first year anniversary soon, too. 🙂

    Happy anniversary!

  7. Since the first anniversary gift is paper, why not write him a love letter talking about the past year and your hopes for the future? Or, if you are willing to spend a little, last year I got my husband something here. It is the best gift I’ve ever given.

  8. The linking didn’t work, it’s “your memory lane DAHT com”.

  9. The first anniversary is paper. You could write a story about how you met, how he proposed, something like that. Write it on nice paper with acid free ink as a keepsake. OR write it in a journal and add to it every year!

  10. I’m not married anymore but I have a good friend who has always done the “traditionsl” gifts (i.e. paper.. wood.. etc) for her husband on their anniversary. It sounds strange at first but each year they get more creative… I like Melanie’s idea for paper personally. Anyway it really encouraged the THOUGHT behind the gift… and placed the emphasis on the couple and not the gift. Just a thought!

  11. For our first anniversary, I made a MEMORY game for hubby with pictures of things that happened on our honeymoon. I put it in a board game box and printed a new cover for it that was titled: Memory-The Honeymoon Edition. I used clip art for the pics and made two of each set (just like the traditional Memory game) for example, on our honeymoon, our rent car ended up being REALLY small and it was something we laugheed very hard about. So, I found clip art of a car that looked really similar and shrunk it down on the cards. Just silly things like that. Five years later, we still pull it out to play and remember many special honeymoon memories. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Best wishes on your gift!

  12. For our “paper” anniversary, I bought my husband a Palm Pilot (electronic “paper”), and it was the best gift I’ve ever given him that was MY idea. 🙂 He wasn’t expecting it, and he was thrilled. We don’t do a lot of sentimental stuff, and he definitely wouldn’t have appreciated a letter as much as a new toy. But that’s just us.

  13. i’m delighted to have stumbled onto your blog, my first anniversary is tomorrow. I’m a photographer and book artist so I’m giving my husband a photo book for our anniversary. good luck… and Happy Anniversary!

  14. Great thing… You are waiting for that sweet occasion. Sharing of your love, care and even gifts will make the moment glory. You both together just sit and recall the past memories and even you can enjoy seeing your old gifts. Stay happy and healthy. Past memories and present activities will surely make you both happier.

  15. I always try to pick a unique and special gifts for my friends and loved ones. I found this great site — my-song.ca/s/ano1! You go on and make a personalized song — I did it for my boyfriend’s anniversary gift. I had a great time putting the song together. It’s completely personalized, and so cute! It’s something I know he won’t forget for a long time. Great site, thanks for the ideas!

  16. The first anniversary gift is paper. For my dad’s 65th birthday i got him a gift certificate to have a book created about him. He said it was the best gift he’s ever received. There is a company in FL that makes them, they are very high quality coffee table style books like at barnes n noble. You can google personal publication and find them

  18. Necklace is my favourite gift and I like it to give as present to my partner.

  19. I suggest a planner! Your going to write everything you want to happen with him. You should do that with your partner in a romantic place, or ask for your friends help and let them carry the banner, the banner contains sweet messages. 🙂
