The big 25!

Today is Blake’s 25th birthday.  We really don’t have anything planned for his special day.  I think we will be glad to just enjoy a nice evening around the house together.  So far I am feeling pretty good today so hopefully it will last through the evening.

The only thing that Blake wants for his birthday is Tim Keller’s book The Reason for God.  I haven’t gotten it for him yet but I will.

This is his last birthday that is just the 2 of us so I hope he has a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday Blake, I love you!

101 Reasons I Love My Husband

Last night Blake spent the night filling out job applications.  He is just about to finish school for his EMT training and having to give his application to all the local fire departments.  He also had to fill out one for the Post Office because they want to interview him this week.  If all goes well he will work part time at both places until one becomes full time…which could be awhile.

Anyway today we got up early to go to this interview for the Post Office.  I went with him because it was about an hour away even though the job would be local.  He was so stressed out trying to get ready, look professional, and make sure he had all the appropriate paper work.  We ot out the door with time to spare.  We stopped and to gas and he wound up getting it all over his hands.  Then we thought we missed our exit so he speed up a little to get around a slow car and passed a police car.  Luckily we didn’t get pulled over.  Blake accredits that to his slamming on the brakes and making a scared face.

Finally we got where we were going and just when he started to calm down and go inside I started to gather his papers together.  Then I read the date he was to be there.  I was a little confused because I seldom know the date since I am at home all day.  I asked him what the date was.  We figured out that it was the 12th.  I started laughing uncontrollably out of sheer horror that I had to tell him that his interview is actually tomorrow.  We both laughed until we cried.  Finally I gathered enough breath to blurt out that this was a good practice run and I think we will do fine tomorrow.

We were both confused because last week when the paper came in the mail I just figured the 13th was Tuesday.  Blake just asumed I was right and let it be, even though he wrote the date a hundred times last night when he was filling out applications.  I forgot what date it was and just had it in my mind that it was Tuesday.

So in conclusion we drove an hour away for breakfast.

Long Week Ahead

Today is Blake’s first day on his ride alongs.  He is going to school to be an EMT and he has to have some on the job training this week.  It is going to be a long week for me!  He will be gone from 8-6 the next 6 days and also has his usual class from 6-10 two nights this week.  Today is a class day so it is a long one.

I am still trying to figure out what I am going to do this week.  I will do a little more packing and cleaning to get us ready for our move.  Our goal is to be moved in by my birthday.  My birthday is 1 month from tomorrow; I think we should have no problem getting finished by then.  I will just be glad when this week is over and we can get back to working on things.  Not to mention how much I will miss Blake this week!

We didn’t really do much of anything this weekend.  We just tried to spend some time together and relax before the long week ahead.  We didn’t do anything for the holiday.  It was a little rainy here so we just went out to eat.  I hope everyone had a great 4th!

Another Cake

Blake had such a good time when we made that cake the other day that he decided to make one by himself.  He just made a small one for me for practice.  He did a really good job so maybe it will end up being something he does on the side just for fun!  He loves Ace of Cakes and would love to be the next Chef Duff!

Mah Nà Mah Nà

I have been talking to Abigal about how she is getting her new puppy Diesel this weekend.  I am so excited for her and her hubby over this!  It makes me remember when we first got Chloe.

This was a couple weeks before we could bring her home.  She was 6 weeks.  I think Diesel will be 6.5 weeks when they bring her home.

This was the day we brought her home.  She was so tired from all the excitement that day.  She made herself right at home!

This all makes me think about how much we love her and she is such a part of our family.  I remember when I first told Blake that I wanted a Weimaraner.  He said a “Mah Nà Mah Nà”?  I know it is hard to pronounce.  I think he finally got it.  Thankfully he stopped trying to tell me that they were illegal in the US and we bought Chloe!

I hope that Abigal and her husband enjoy Diesel as much as we enjoy Chloe.  Weims will test your patience but given the right amount of exercise and attention they will be the best dogs ever!  They will also be the silliest!

It’s Official…that’s what he said

Blake is starting a blog!  I just wanted to let everyone know so that they can go check it out.  I can’t wait to see all the things he will post on there.  He is defiantly very funny, that is one of the reasons I married him!  He is just getting started as of yesterday so keep checking back as it grows.  I am sure it will be equally as serious as it is funny!

Oh and be sure to check out his beautiful header that I created for him!

they gave him a gun

As most of you know Blake started a new job a few weeks ago.  I am really proud of him!  He had to go through lots of background checks, tests, and training.  The result of it all…

…they gave him a gun.  For some reason we find humor in this.  He has been interested in law enforcement for a long time now, and he would run off to the military if I would only let him, but for anyone who knows his very silly goofy side you will see the humor in it too.

He really did great in his training.  All guys in his training had been in the military and he did great side by side with them.  (2 tenths of a second slower than the fastest guy on one of the shooting tests to be exact)  Not bad for someone who has hardly ever shot a gun.  Maybe this is more scary than funny…that he has such a natural ability to take someone down with a gun.
